Scapa Distillery was established by John Townsend in 1885 close by the shore of Scapa Bay in Scapa Flow near Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. Scapa Distillery one of only a very few Scottish distilleries to have retained some Corten steel washbacks and is equipped with just two stills including a novel wash still which incorporates the shell of an old Lomond still. In contrast to the other Kirkwall distillery Scapa Distillery produces only unpeated single malt whisky.
Nose: Floral notes initially, with a burst of ripe exotic fruits such as Kiwi. Sweet bubble gum influences develop and a hint of bees wax polish emerge.
Palate: Mouth coating with a defined sweet edge, hints of summer fruits emerge and a burst of pepper spice and vanilla lingers.
