Bottled 2009 by Gordon & MacPhail. Matured in Refill Sherry American Casks.
Scapa Distillery was established by John Townsend in 1885 close by the shore of Scapa Bay in Scapa Flow near Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. Scapa Distillery one of only a very few Scottish distilleries to have retained some Corten steel washbacks and is equipped with just two stills including a novel wash still which incorporates the shell of an old Lomond still. In contrast to the other Kirkwall distillery Scapa Distillery produces only unpeated single malt whisky.
Floral with dry grass and leafy aromas. Hints of citrus fruits and a spicy, cedar wood edge. Dry and peppery palate. Cedar and pine wood flavours with a delicate fruitiness developing.
