Mortlach Distillery
Mortlach Distillery, established in 1823 on the banks of the River Dullan in Scotland’s renowned Speyside whisky region, is celebrated for its distinctive whisky-making process. Equipped with traditional wooden worm tubs, six assorted stills, and three spirit safes, Mortlach employs a unique two and a half times or partial triple distillation method, imparting exceptional depth and complexity to its single malt Scotch whisky. While official bottlings are limited, independent bottlers highly value Mortlach’s quality, especially its long-matured whiskies in sherry casks. Notably, Gordon & MacPhail released a remarkable 70-year-old Mortlach single cask from 1938, matured in a single sherry hogshead until its exclusive bottling in 2009. Mortlach Distillery remains a treasured name among whisky enthusiasts and collectors, renowned for its rich heritage and superior craftsmanship.
