Highland Park Distillery
Highland Park Distillery, proudly situated on the Mainland of Orkney near Kirkwall, is renowned as the most northerly malt whisky distillery in Scotland, making it the closest Scottish distillery to the Arctic Circle. Founded between 1825 and 1826 by Robert Borwick, a local merchant and straw plaiter, alongside John Robertson, the distillery was established on land formerly known as Rosebank, which was renamed to Highland Park. The area’s rich whisky tradition dates back to at least 1798, when Magnus Eunson began illicitly distilling whisky near the Parks of Rosebank. Today, Highland Park Distillery is celebrated for its exceptional single malt Scotch whisky, with flagship releases including the highly sought-after Highland Park 12 Year Old, 18 Year Old, and 21 Year Old. These expressions are beloved for their harmonious blend of smoky peat, sweet heather, and rich complexity, embodying the unique terroir of Orkney. As a cornerstone of the Orkney whisky scene, Highland Park Distillery continues to attract whisky enthusiasts and connoisseurs worldwide, offering tours and tastings that showcase its storied legacy and commitment to craftsmanship. Whether enjoyed neat or as part of a sophisticated blend, Highland Park remains a distinguished name in the world of Scottish single malt whisky, celebrated for its northern charm and enduring heritage.
