Dalmore Distillery
Dalmore Distillery, founded by Alexander Mathieson in 1839 on the northern shore of the Cromarty Firth near Alness, is a hallmark of Scotland’s Highland whisky region. By 1886, renowned whisky writer Alfred Barnard noted Dalmore’s operation with four stills, which were doubled to eight in 1966. Known for its one-of-a-kind still design, the wash stills feature flat tops while water jackets encircle the necks of the four spirit stills, contributing to the distillery’s distinct character. While Dalmore’s official range—including the 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, and 18 Year Old—is highly sought after, independent bottlers also occasionally release single cask expressions, ensuring enthusiasts worldwide can savor the unique allure of Dalmore single malt Scotch whisky.
