The Glasgow Garden Festival transformed derelict land on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow into greenspace, a theme park and adventure playgroups for 5 months from April to September 1988. The National Garden Festivals were based on the German post-war ‘Bundesgartenschau’ idea for reclaiming large areas of disused or neglected land in cities. The Glasgow site is now home to the Glasgow Science Centre and a digital media village on the banks of the River Clyde.
