Penderyn (Wales)

Penderyn Distillery was established in 2000 and is situated in the Welsh Brecon Beacons National Park and is the only working distillery in Wales.  Penderyn Distillery is a malt whisky distillery but unusually does not malt, mill, mash or ferment on site but imports malt wash from a Cardiff brewery. The wash is mixed with water drawn from an aquifer beneath the distillery and filled into a single pot still with a rectifying column. Local water is also used to reduce the strength of the malt whisky in the Penderyn bottling centre. Visitors are welcomed at Penderyn Distillery where distillery tours are available.
