TWB Tasting Notes:
Nose: The nose is vibrant and inviting, with an immediate burst of fresh orchard fruits—green apples, ripe pears, and a hint of citrus zest. These bright fruit notes are complemented by subtle undertones of vanilla and caramel, which come from the initial bourbon cask maturation. A gentle wisp of peat smoke adds depth, along with a delicate floral note reminiscent of apple blossoms.
Palate: On the palate, this whisky is wonderfully balanced, showcasing the influence of the Calvados cask. The sweet, juicy flavors of apple and pear are at the forefront, mingling beautifully with Kilchoman’s signature peatiness. As the whisky develops on the palate, notes of honey, cinnamon, and a touch of oak spice emerge, adding warmth and complexity. The texture is smooth and full-bodied, making for an indulgent and satisfying experience.
Finish: The finish is long and lingering, with a delightful interplay of sweet fruit and smoky peat. The crisp apple and pear notes gradually give way to a more earthy, smoky character, with hints of toasted oak and a gentle spice that lingers on the tongue. The final impression is one of harmony and balance, leaving a memorable aftertaste.
