Invergordon 25 Year Old 1988 vintage Highland single grain Scotch whisky. Single cask #10699 bottled July 2014 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the Sovereign range.
Invergordon Distillery was established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd in 1959 at Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth in Scotland’s Highland whisky region. Invergordon opened in 1961 and supports The Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band. A single Coffey Still was increased to three in 1963 and an additional and much larger column still was introduced in 1978 in order to produce neutral spirit. Ben Wyvis malt distillery was built in its grounds in 1965 although it closed in 1976 and was demolished in 1977.
A beautiful dark gold coloured whisky with a robust, full bodied nose of sweet butter shortbread, vanilla, and stewed rhubarb. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the sweet vanilla fruity notes giving way to a toffee apple, nuts and oak flavour. A long, satisfying finish, slightly sweet, with hazelnuts coming through at the end.
