Highland Park 28 Year Old 1984 vintage Island single malt Scotch whisky. Single hogshead cask #9968 bottled September 2013 by Douglas Laing & Co. for the Director's Cut range.
Highland Park Distillery is the most northerly malt whisky distillery in Scotland and the closest Scottish distillery to the Arctic Circle. Highland Park was established in 1798 and is one of the few Scottish distilleries which continues to malt barley on its own traditional malting floors and to use locally cut peat from Hobbister Moor in its malt kiln. The distillery visitor centre welcomes visitors and offers distillery tours.
Nose: Opens sweetly carrying a real spiced caramel character + toasted barley malt.
Palate: Mouthcoatingly spiced - warming to charred biscuits + a gently smoked quality.
Finish: Long – developing to sweet tobacco & a treacle on burnt toast style.
