Glenrothes first released the 1985 Vintage in 1997. It was popular then for its aromatic spicyness. The Glenrothes Malt Master, John Ramsay, has now agreed that the last remaining drops be vatted and bottled for the latest version of this great Vintage. From an afternoon treat this has turned into an evening delight. A classic to accompany many puddings and thereafter.
Glenrothes Distillery was established in the narrow valley of the Rothes Burn on the west side of Rothes in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region by James Stuart in 1878. Now one of the largest malt whisky distilleries in Scotland with eighteen washbacks, ten copper stills singing in their own mighty cathedral and a traditional pagoda roof. Glenrothes Distillery participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and is a major contributor to the Cutty Sark and Famous Grouse blends of scotch whiskies.
Golden, clear and bright in colour, with a bouquet of rich, fruity, raisins and sultanas. The palate is soft, smooth, oak, vanilla and sultanas with a long medium sweet finish.
