TWB Tasting Notes:
On the nose, a beautifully balanced introduction of sweet, smoky aromas greets you. Rich red berries and dried fruits combine with a touch of sea air, all wrapped in a smoky blanket of charred oak. Hints of caramel, vanilla, and dark chocolate emerge alongside subtle spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
The palate reveals a delightful contrast between the sweetness of the port cask influence and the bold peat smoke. Juicy plums, blackberries, and stewed cherries are complemented by notes of toffee, brown sugar, and hints of spiced oak. The peat is robust but not overpowering, offering a gentle warmth that enhances the fruity and dessert-like qualities.
The finish is long, warming, and lingering, with smoky and slightly drying notes of toasted oak, dark chocolate, and a whisper of pepper. The sweetness of the port cask fades gradually, leaving a final note of earthy peat and smoldering embers. This whisky is a perfect balance between the rich, fruity sweetness from the port wood and the smoky, peaty depth, making it a complex yet approachable dram.
