TWB Tasting Notes:
On the nose, Glendronach 15 Year Old opens with an opulent bouquet of dark dried fruits, featuring raisins, plums, and figs, intertwined with rich toffee, leather, and delicate oak spices. Hints of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and cinnamon emerge, adding layers of complexity and warmth.
The palate is full-bodied and indulgent, offering an explosion of sherried sweetness. Juicy blackberries, sultanas, and stewed prunes lead the way, followed by flavors of caramelized nuts, spiced treacle, and roasted chestnuts. The influence of the Pedro Ximénez casks brings a luscious sweetness, while the Oloroso casks add depth with notes of dried fruit, rich oak, and a subtle nuttiness. A touch of clove and dark cocoa enhances the whisky’s robust character, creating a complex yet balanced experience.
The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of dried fruits, gentle spices, and a whisper of oak. A final wave of dark chocolate and sweet spice fades slowly, leaving behind the richness of the sherry cask maturation. This whisky is a beautifully balanced expression that offers complexity, depth, and an indulgent sherry-forward profile.
