TWB Tasting Notes:
Nose: The nose is immediately greeted with a bouquet of aromatic delights. Fresh, ripe orchard fruits dominate, with apples and pears leading the charge, followed by a delicate zesty citrus note that adds freshness and vivacity. Underlying these fruit notes are layers of vanilla sweetness and malted barley, which bring warmth and depth. A subtle hint of floral heather and a sprinkle of spices, including cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg, round off the nose, making it complex and inviting.
Palate: On tasting, the whisky unfolds with an elegant and rich texture that caresses the palate. The malted barley's sweetness is more pronounced, offering a foundation upon which the other flavors build. The orchard fruits detected on the nose translate beautifully onto the palate, with an added dimension of candied citrus peels bringing brightness and depth. Mid-palate, the presence of toasted oak and a slight nuttiness emerge, alongside a whisper of dark chocolate, adding a luxurious and satisfying richness. The balance between the fruit, sweetness, and oak is expertly achieved, making each sip a discovery.
Finish: The finish is long, warm, and delightfully complex. It leaves a lasting impression of honeyed sweetness and a drying oakiness, ensuring a well-rounded and satisfying closure. The lingering spice, a gentle echo of what was hinted at on the nose, adds a final touch of warmth, inviting contemplation and a desire to revisit the dram.
