TWB Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rich and indulgent, the aroma unfurls with layers of dark stewed fruits—think plum compote, raisin jam, and black cherry preserves. Beneath this fruity core lie elegant hints of dark chocolate shavings, cigar box, and polished mahogany furniture. Gradually, subtle notes of honeyed pastry and candied orange peel emerge, accented by a gentle whisper of toasted almonds and ground espresso beans.
Palate: At full cask strength, the first sip arrives with an opulent, velvety mouthfeel. Waves of dried figs, date syrup, and fruitcake mingle seamlessly with hints of crème brûlée, toffee sauce, and nutty praline. A backbone of spice—cinnamon, clove, and a touch of star anise—provides structure, while delicate tannins from the oak frame the sweeter elements. Each sip reveals a sophisticated interplay of sweetness, spice, and dry, woody depth.
Finish: Long, warming, and deeply satisfying. Lingering notes of spiced fruit loaf, mocha, and toasted hazelnuts gently fade into a whisper of sweet black tea. As the flavors recede, a subtle thread of mature oak and chocolate orange zest persists, ensuring this final flourish remains memorable and comforting.
