Dufftown 30 Year Old Director's Cut Speyside single malt Scotch whisky bottle by Douglas Laing.
From a single sherry butt cask #8232. Distilled 1982 and bottled March 2012. 189 bottles.
Dufftown Distillery was established in 1895 on the site of Pittyvaich corn mill on the Dullan Water just to the south of Dufftown and in the heart of Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. Despite a cramped situation Dufftown Distillery’s six stills produce around six million litres of alcohol per year making it a top ten Scottish malt distillery in terms of output. Very little emerges as single malt since most flows into Bell’s blends. Dufftown Distillery participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
Nose: Dark macerated fruit abounds + distinctly spiced summer fruits + cedar wood & its Sherry cask history influence.
Palate: It is lightly oaked – being also overtly/warmly spiced ….. carrying liquorice tones & a big/full tannic “hit”
Finish: This is now more subtle – being rather spicy – and showing wafts of sweet honey beyond the soft oaky tones.
