TWB Tasting Notes:
Nose: The nose is bright and inviting, with an initial burst of red berries—strawberries, raspberries, and cherries—complemented by sweet notes of ripe plums. There's a rich layer of creamy vanilla and honey, intertwined with subtle hints of toasted almonds and a delicate floral undertone. A touch of ruby port wine influence comes through with a faint, tannic edge, adding depth to the fruity aromas.
Palate: On the palate, this whisky is smooth and well-rounded, showcasing the hallmark of Auchentoshan's triple distillation. The juicy red fruits from the nose carry through, with flavors of cherry compote, raspberry jam, and blackcurrant mingling beautifully with rich dark chocolate and a hint of espresso. The sweetness of the port cask influence adds a velvety mouthfeel, while gentle notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of oak spice provide a lovely balance and complexity.
Finish: The finish is long, warming, and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of sweet, fruity richness. The flavors of dark chocolate and red berries gradually fade, giving way to a soft, tannic dryness and a final whisper of spiced oak. The subtle sweetness of the port wine influence lingers on the palate, making for a memorable and enjoyable conclusion.
