Aberlour
Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1826 in the town of Aberlour in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region and is situated on the northern edge of Ben Rinnes mountain which accumulates snow and rainwater across its peaty moors and supplies cold, soft spring water to the distillery. Around a half of the spirit produced from Aberlour’s four copper stills is destined for single malts whilst much of the rest contributes to the Chivas brands of blended scotch. Aberlour malt whisky is matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and Aberlour A’bunadh single malt whisky has matured solely in sherry casks. Aberlour Distillery has a visitor centre offering a distillery tour and is an established participant in the popular Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
NOSE: Clean & fresh – attractively fruity, carrying a crushed sugar & gristy sweet character.
PALATE: More fruit apparent – spiced, macerated poached pears + an acacia honey style.
FINISH: Medium long – replicating the nose & palate before running to a hint of pepper.
