Glenburgie Distillery
Glenburgie Distillery, originally established as Kilnflat Distillery by John Paul in 1829 west of Forres within Scotland’s prestigious Speyside whisky region, boasts a rich heritage in malt whisky production. Initially equipped with two pot stills, Glenburgie expanded in 1958 by adding two Lomond stills, enabling the creation of two distinct malt whiskies: Glenburgie from the pot stills and Glencraig from the Lomond stills. In 1981, the Lomond stills were removed and replaced with two additional pot stills, bringing the total to six pot stills today. Currently, Glenburgie focuses on producing high-quality malt whisky primarily for esteemed Chivas blends, solidifying its role in the blended Scotch market. While official distillery releases remain limited, Glenburgie’s single malts are highly sought after through independent bottlers such as Gordon & MacPhail, providing whisky enthusiasts and collectors with access to this historic Speyside distillery’s exceptional expressions. As a key player in the Speyside malt whisky landscape, Glenburgie Distillery continues to uphold its legacy of craftsmanship and quality, making it a revered name in Scotland’s renowned whisky industry.
