Braeval Distillery
Braeval Distillery, located on the northeastern edge of the Grampian Mountains in Chapeltown within Speyside, first opened its doors as Braes of Glenlivet in 1973 under Chivas Brothers, before being renamed Braeval in 1995. Rising 352 meters above sea level, it holds the distinction of being the highest working distillery in Scotland. A modern pagoda roof crowns its attractive site, where white-washed walls and dark slated roofs frame six copper stills primarily dedicated to blending. While Braeval has not released any official single malt expressions, discerning enthusiasts can find its whiskies in respected independent bottlings, including the Old Malt Cask and Signatory Vintage ranges. This blend of striking architecture, dramatic altitude, and Speyside heritage positions Braeval as a notable name in Scotland’s rich whisky tradition.
